About
Frassy started as a visual journal documenting my daily outfits, an endeavour I casually began to combat boredom back in 2009 while studying at a too-traditional University. After graduating, I opted to pursue blogging as a profession and move to Paris. The city was always my dream and so at 21, I launched the website full time and moved into a crumbling apartment on the left bank with 2 suitcases and no friends. Those first four years in Paris were both magical and incredibly formative to what I’ve achieved professionally so far. Since then, Frassy has evolved to showcase my entire life – I wear the clothes I love alongside personal stories in an effort to offer deeper insights into my life, the things I love, the problems I face and the brands, projects, places, habits and ideas that inspire me. Frassy also gave me the opportunities I needed to now also work as a freelance photographer and writer for both brands and individuals alike. A year ago, I abandoned Paris full time and set up a life further south in Barcelona, Spain. I now work between the two cities with exciting plans for the near future. And as always, from the day I began this little website to now, I am overwhelmingly and constantly humbled and inspired by my readers’ support ; thank you for following along, thank you for watching me grow and change, thank you. I keep you all in mind everyday here and beyond.
This is for me.
Hi. I'm Rachel. Simply put, I write. Not-so-simply-put, I want to write it all, every moment, down to the way I press down upon the letters of this keyboard in a cadence of clicks. I itch to move the world with the nib of my pen.
New York is my city.
I speak jibberish with my friends in cafes.
I keep daily tabs on flights to London when my gas tank is usually running on empty.
I long to know some understated, mapless coastal pocket on the edge of a continent.
I constantly ask myself what hepburn would do.
I believe in whimsical.
I can count the number of freckles I have on all my fingers.
This no longer bothers me.
I search for obscure foods in farmer markets.
And this little piece of the internet is my secret life of daydreams.
I’m a reporter in Salt Lake City, covering crime and politics at Deseret News. I chase across this small metropolis for that one story my fate perpetually hangs on. I have a BA from Brigham Young University in literature, where I worked as an editor for Inscape, a student-run literary journal. I run a writing blog called the Secret Life of Daydreams and send annoying letters to the editor of the New Yorker on my free time.
I'm a journalist, storyteller, scrivener, fictionist, shameless people watcher and lover of all things provincial. I fancy cobblestone streets and the edge of a continent. I'm an American by birth, a perfectionist by nature, a nomad by happenstance, and an enthusiast by choice.
For questions, comments, a potential story idea, rates and details, or a simple hello,
please feel free to email me anytime.
Thanks for following along and it’s so very nice to meet you!
Rachel
